I’m Angelique (she/her), a 1.5-gen Filipino-American illustrator and printmaker based out of the greater Seattle area. I began printmaking in 2018, with a primary focus on monotype, drypoint, and etching. When 2020 rolled around, I felt a pull towards a more accessible form of printmaking that I could engage in at my primary workstation, aka a chipped, worn, Ikea dining room table. In the early days of the pandemic, I felt a desire to connect with others while isolated in quarantine. I carved and printed my very first blocks, with floral imagery and phrases such as “with care” and “thinking of you”, which I sent out as postcards, and continued to do in the years following. I very quickly fell in love with the therapeutic and handmade nature of carving, and have not stopped since.

My work has evolved but continues to highlight themes of love and well-being, often portraying florals/plants in addition to quirky creatures. It is a joy and honor to see my work in the hands and homes of others, and I hope to continue sharing this craft with the world.

When I’m not carving, you can find me dabbling in some other creative medium or working my day job as a mental health therapist.

Thanks for stopping by!

A note: “acguina” is a combination of my initials and last name, pronounced A-C-GHEE-NUH.

You can find my work at Burke Museum Store and Retail Therapy in Seattle, WA. See my events page for upcoming markets to shop in-person!
